Position Overview:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Lead is responsible for leading and executing continuous improvement initiatives across the production facility. This role requires a hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization. The CI Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for waste reduction, efficiency gains, and quality improvements, while supporting employees at all levels to adopt a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Continuous Improvement Leadership
· Lead CI initiatives across all areas of manufacturing operations.
· Implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) to optimize processes and reduce waste.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process bottlenecks, safety concerns, and areas for improvement.
· Develop and lead workshops, training sessions, and Kaizen events to promote CI tools and techniques.
· Perform daily facility walks to capture potential CI projects.
· Help all departments reach and exceed their goals and targets.
· Assist management with additional tasks as required.
2. Project Management & Execution
· Manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, proper resource allocation, and adherence to quality standards.
· Use data-driven approaches to identify root causes of issues and implement sustainable solutions.
· Develop clear project goals, timelines, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of initiatives.
· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with company health & safety procedures and policies.
3. Process Optimization & Waste Reduction
· Drive initiatives to reduce waste (material, time, labor) and increase overall equipment effectiveness.
· Analyze production data and identify key opportunities for efficiency improvements (e.g., cycle time reduction, throughput enhancement, inventory optimization).
· Work closely with production teams to improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and eliminate non-value-added activities.
4. Training
· Provide coaching and mentoring to employees on CI principles and practices in alignment with Royal Containers’ core values.
· Support the development of a culture that embraces CI practices and training.
5. Metrics & Reporting
· Establish KPIs for improvement projects and track the effectiveness of implemented changes.
· Conduct and report risk assessment reports to management.
· Regularly report on progress and outcomes (positive and negative) of CI initiatives to management and other applicable stakeholders.
· Monitor and communicate cost savings, process improvements, and efficiency gains to demonstrate the value of CI efforts.
Requirements:
· Completion of OSSD or equivalent required; post-secondary education Business, Engineering, or other related fields is preferred.
· Proven self-motivated leader with previous CI leadership experience preferred.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) is an asset.
· Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading process improvement projects to completion.
· Ability to analyze production data and make informed decisions based on findings.
· Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills to influence change across all levels of the organization.
· Ability to multi-task in a customer-focused environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
· English language; verbal and written required.
· Based in Brampton location but willing to travel to any site requiring assistance.
Working Conditions:
· Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
· May involve standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Pay: $57,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
