Position Overview
An established multi-trade contractor is seeking an Electrical Estimator to lead project cost, risk, and milestone evaluations. This role develops accurate, competitive project estimates to meet current and future labor needs in the industrial, commercial, institutional and design-build industries.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Take-Offs
- Complete detailed material and labor take-offs using Trimble or AccuBid.
- Read and interpret blueprint drawings and complex technical specifications.
- Assemble accurate, timely estimates and proposals for upcoming tenders.
- Assist with the pricing of change orders and maintain labor/material databases.
Tender Assessment & Cost Savings
- Create RFQs, determine project scopes, and evaluate subcontractor requirements.
- Perform risk analyses to determine which projects to tender.
- Forecast high-level labor requirements and coordinate site visits.
- Identify and document value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
Communication & Project Handover
- Process RFIs and review tender scopes with General Contractors and Construction Managers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, GCs, and subcontractors.
- Provide detailed take-off reports and estimate specifications to the project team.
- Identify prefabrication opportunities based on project plans and schedules.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of electrical estimating in industrial, commercial, institutional (ICI), and design-build industries. Field experience is strongly desired.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office; hands-on experience with Trimble, AccuBid, or AutoCAD is a major asset.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of multi-trade disciplines and blueprint visualization. Experience putting multi-million dollar bids together
