What you will be doing:
As a New Fire Alarm System Installer, your primary responsibility will be to take on new fire alarm installation projects. From reviewing a newly awarded project, right through to the end including conducting Electrical Contractor (EC) "Kickoff Meetings", provided the EC with Technical support, site visits as required, conducting the VI and publishing VI Reports.
- Lead installation, commissioning, and verification inspection on Fire Alarm related equipment for various installations, including device and circuit connection
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications
- Supervise and coordinate work with co-workers and electricians working on Fire Alarm systems
- Produce Fire Alarm Riser Diagrams,
- Publish and track Approval Drawings
- Arrange and conduct “Kickoff Meetings” with electrical contractors (EC)
- Organize and conduct periodic site visits when required
- Organize and conduct VI’s and produce VI Reports in a timely manner
- Identify deficiencies and code issues during verification
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, ground faults, open and short circuits
- Provide technical assistance to clients and management when required
- Conduct programming modifications to existing systems independently
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various product lines
- Travel within the business area as required
- Mentor less experienced technicians
What we look for and is required:
- Hold a current, valid Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the Fire Protection industry
- Knowledgeable of provincial and municipal building & fire codes for verification purposes
- A desire to move into Project Management
- Punctuality, professionalism, and organizational skills
- Ability to program fire alarm systems independently
- Self-motivated individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and aptitude for quick learning
- Proficiency in computer usage, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with electronic test equipment
- Clear communication skills and strong customer service focus
- Commitment to adhering to safety policies and procedures consistently
- Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs
- Ability to work well with others
- Flexibility to work in challenging positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and operating high lift equipment up to 30 feet, as well as navigating crawl spaces and ceilings
- Possession of a clean and valid driver’s license
- Satisfactory criminal record check
