Elgin Medical Institute is seeking two skilled, compassionate, and detail-oriented Echocardiographers to join our team in St. Thomas, Ontario on a temporary full-time basis. In this role, you will perform high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations while delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative clinical environment.
We are looking for professionals who are committed to clinical excellence, patient-centred care, and continuous learning. The successful candidates will have strong technical expertise in echocardiography and the ability to recognize and assess a wide range of cardiac conditions.
Position Responsibilities
As an Echocardiographer, you will:
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms, including:
- 2D imaging
- M-Mode
- Spectral and colour Doppler studies
- Conduct specialized procedures including:
- Contrast echocardiography
- Bubble studies
- Stress echocardiography (if qualified)
- Recognize and document complex cardiac pathology and anatomical abnormalities
- Ensure accurate and timely patient data entry and reporting
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with PHIPA and organizational policies
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and professional practice standards
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives as required
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Current credentialing with Sonography Canada in Cardiac Sonography
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program
- Current professional liability insurance
- Current CPR (Basic Life Support/BLS for Healthcare Providers preferred)
- IV insertion and/or phlebotomy certification considered an asset
- Previous echocardiography experience preferred
