Mayfair Care Centre is a 142 occupant, community-nestled, Long Term Care facility. Since 1976, our home has cared for thousands of resident's in need of 24 hour Nursing care, doctor's on call, housekeeping, dietitian, physiotherapy and recreation therapy.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Health Care Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to our clients. This position offers an opportunity to utilize a wide range of nursing skills and make a meaningful impact on clients' lives.
What we are looking for:
Demonstrate an understanding of the client’s care plan and the role of the HCA in implementing the care plan.
Encourage and support the client’s efforts to maintain and/or enhance their health, wellness, independence, and quality of life.
Promote the client’s ability to guide and participate in their care to the greatest degree possible.
Provide individualized, age-appropriate, person-centered care, with a focus on physical, psychological, social, emotional, cognitive, cultural, and spiritual support.
Recognize and respect the client’s uniqueness, diversity, rights, and concerns and their ability to make choices, take risks, and have control over their life.
Provide medication assistance as assigned by a regulated health care professional.
Demonstrate the ability to provide basic palliative and end-of-life care.
Demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, and respect for the client’s beliefs and cultural traditions related to death, dying, and end-of-life care.
Demonstrate an ability to care for and communicate with clients with cognitive, and/or mental health and addictions challenges.
Recognize and respond appropriately to the client displaying responsive/changing behaviors.
Report and/or record client information in accordance with employer documentation standards
Ability to work collaboratively with the client, family, and all other members of the health care team to set and achieve common goals and provide safe, competent, and ethical care.
Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 required
Completed recognized Health Care Aide Certificate
CLHA Registration
6 months to 1 year of experience in a Continuing Care facility preferred
Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
Computer skills is an asset.
Must provide a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Person within the last 6 months
