Las Chulas is looking for an experienced Chef to join our year-round restaurant team in Southampton, Ontario.
We are a Mexican and Czech-Mexican fusion restaurant serving tacos, quesadillas, burgers, Mexican specials, catering orders, and seasonal menu items. This is a hands-on kitchen leadership role for someone with strong experience preparing authentic Mexican cuisine and helping organize daily kitchen operations.

Main duties
- Prepare and cook Mexican dishes such as tacos, birria, quesadillas, salsas, marinades, meats, and daily specials
- Prepare authentic Mexican recipes, including meats, sauces, fillings, toppings, and traditional flavour profiles
- Plan and help develop Mexican and Czech-Mexican fusion menu items
- Supervise kitchen staff and assist with training on recipes, prep, plating, cleanliness, and food quality
- Organize daily food preparation and kitchen workflow
- Monitor inventory, food portions, waste control, and stock levels
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and quality control standards are followed
- Assist with ordering ingredients and communicating supply needs to management
- Help prepare catering orders, special event menus, and seasonal promotions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
- Support takeout, dine-in, and catering operations during busy service periods
Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a chef, cook, or kitchen supervisor
- Experience preparing authentic Mexican cuisine is required
- Experience with tacos, birria, salsas, marinades, meats, and Mexican flavour profiles is strongly preferred
- Experience supervising or training kitchen staff is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety, kitchen sanitation, prep systems, and inventory control
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and busy tourism-season shifts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- English required
- Food Handler Certificate is an asset
- Culinary or hospitality education is an asset, but equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
