Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated French Teacher to join our team at Schoolhouse Montessori. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in language instruction, along with an appreciation for Montessori, child-centered learning. This role offers an opportunity to inspire young students (Toddler & CASA programs, ages 18 months–6 years) in their language learning journey while fostering a calm, engaging, and supportive classroom environment. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, a solid understanding of early childhood education, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs.
Duties
Develop and deliver engaging, Montessori-aligned French lessons tailored to students' age and developmental levels (18 months–6 years)
Create lesson plans that incorporate language skills such as speaking, listening, and early pre-reading and writing
Use hands-on, sensory-based materials appropriate for toddler and CASA learners
Assess student progress through observation and informal evaluations consistent with Montessori practices
Adapt teaching strategies for students with diverse learning needs or developmental differences
Provide small group or individualized support as needed
Proofread and review instructional materials for accuracy and clarity
Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and share best practices
Maintain a positive, calm classroom environment that encourages independence, participation, and confidence
Skills
Strong knowledge of the French language and age-appropriate teaching methodologies
Experience working with toddlers and/or preschool-aged children (18 months–6 years)
Classroom experience with diverse student populations, including those requiring additional support
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage young learners
Ability to develop and review instructional content for accuracy and clarity
Experience supporting students individually or in small groups
Strong organizational skills and the ability to develop creative, hands-on lesson plans
Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for working with young children
