Job Title: Lead Hand / Foreperson – Mixed-Use High-Rise Construction
Job Description
This position leads and coordinates the labour crew on a multi‑year, mixed‑use high‑rise development in Metrotown. You will supervise labourers, support trade teams, maintain site housekeeping, and perform hands‑on labour tasks as needed to keep the project progressing efficiently. Responsibilities

Supervise, schedule, and direct all site labourers to ensure daily and weekly objectives are met.

Assign daily tasks to labourers based on project priorities established by the Site Superintendent.

Train, mentor, and coach labourers to uphold quality standards and safety expectations on site.

Monitor crew productivity, identify performance issues, and address them proactively to maintain efficiency.

Actively participate in day‑to‑day labour tasks, working on the tools alongside the crew when required.

Maintain site cleanliness, organization, and general housekeeping throughout all phases of construction.

Handle and move materials safely and efficiently to support trades and maintain workflow.

Set up and maintain temporary fencing, signage, barricades, and other safety and wayfinding measures.

Provide basic labour support to trade teams, ensuring they have the assistance needed to complete their work.

Operate small tools and equipment such as demolition tools, saws, and compactors in a safe and effective manner.

Step into any labour task as needed to maintain schedule, support the crew, and keep the project on track.

Promote and enforce safe work practices in accordance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company policies.
Essential Skills

5–10 years of construction experience on commercial or high‑rise projects as a skilled labourer or carpenter.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a foreperson or lead hand on high‑rise residential or commercial construction projects.

Strong, hands‑on construction knowledge with the ability to work effectively alongside the crew on the tools.

Solid understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations and safe job practices on large‑scale construction sites.

Excellent communication skills to coordinate tasks, provide clear direction, and liaise with site leadership and trades.

Strong organization and planning abilities to manage labour schedules, task assignments, and site housekeeping.

Effective problem‑solving skills to address on‑site challenges and maintain productivity.

Physical fitness and stamina to perform labour tasks in a demanding, large‑scale construction environment.

Experience working on concrete, high‑rise, and mixed‑use construction projects.

Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and construction drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Valid safety certifications such as WHMIS, Fall Protection, and Telehandler are considered assets.

Access to a reliable vehicle is an advantage for commuting to the Metrotown project site.

Experience with labour, construction, concrete work, and high‑rise building is beneficial.

Experience supporting multiple trades and coordinating labour on complex, multi‑year projects is an asset.

Work Environment
This role is based on a major mixed‑use high‑rise development in Metrotown and offers a multi‑year project environment. Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with occasional overtime available depending on project needs. You will work on an active, large‑scale construction site, using small tools and equipment such as demolition tools, saws, and compactors, and regularly supporting concrete and high‑rise construction activities. The environment is fast‑paced, safety‑focused, and highly collaborative, with close coordination between labour crews, trade teams, and site leadership.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
