JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, the Technology Architecture Manager plays a key role in the design, planning, documentation, and guidance of the implementation of technological solutions for the Port of Québec. This strategic role ensures that current and future systems remain fully aligned with the objectives and directions outlined in the organization’s strategic plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define the technological vision and long term evolution strategy for IT systems in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
- Define the target architecture for systems (applications, data, infrastructure) and guide the selection of technologies and operating environments.
- Develop migration and modernization plans for existing systems, ensuring alignment with the organization’s technological vision.
- Ensure that architectures meet performance and security requirements.
- Produce and maintain up to date architecture documentation (diagrams, models, specifications) to support teams and ensure technological alignment.
- Establish architecture standards and frameworks, and ensure their adoption in accordance with best practices.
- Contribute to the assessment of technical risks; actively participate in identifying their impacts on architecture and projects, and in defining mitigation measures.
- Collaborate closely with development, operations, and security teams, as well as business stakeholders, to understand needs and guide technological solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert and support internal and external teams in implementing target architectures.
- Evaluate new technologies and maintain proactive awareness of emerging solutions, providing integration recommendations when they offer added value or create opportunities for the organization.
- Support and oversee system implementation to ensure compliance with technological objectives and directions.
- Act as project manager for the deployment of strategic initiatives.
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement of systems.
DESIRED PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
- At least 9 years of experience in IT, including significant experience in systems architecture and a role with strategic scope.
- Experience in managing digital transformation projects and change management.
- Experience in developing, justifying, and managing budgets.
- Strong understanding of business processes (sales, finance, production) and the ability to translate them into IT strategies.
- Solid knowledge of Cloud architectures (AWS, Azure — certification is an asset).
- Expertise in operating systems, databases (SQL and NoSQL), and networking technologies.
- Good understanding of DevOps and CI/CD development practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced level of English.
