Heather's Gardening Service is a small, locally owned gardening business providing residential garden maintenance across the Edmonton area, including Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and surrounding communities. We are looking to add a few reliable gardeners to the team for the 2026 growing season (June 1 – October 15)
To improve efficiency and reduce travel time, gardeners are generally assigned clients within specific geographic areas whenever possible. We are specifically looking for a gardener located in the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain area.
Our gardeners help maintain beautiful outdoor spaces for a variety of homeowners through services such as weeding, planting, pruning, and seasonal garden clean-ups.
Most gardeners work independently at client homes, while occasionally collaborating with other team members on larger jobs. As the business grows, we aim to create a positive, respectful working environment where gardeners can take pride in the work they do and the gardens they care for. Many of our gardeners return for multiple seasons.
This is an independent contractor position, offering flexibility in scheduling and work hours. Gardeners typically work approximately 20–25 hours per week (or more), depending on weather and availability. Contractors can choose the days and times they prefer to work, including weekdays, evenings, or weekends.
Duties
- Weeding and maintaining garden beds
- Planting flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Pruning and trimming shrubs and small trees
- Watering plants and monitoring plant health
- Seasonal garden clean-ups (spring and fall)
- Operating hand tools and occasional power tools (such as hedge trimmers)
Requirements
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Enjoy working outdoors and performing physical work
- Interest in plants and gardening (personal or professional experience)
- Basic knowledge of common Alberta plants and weeds
- Comfortable interacting with homeowners when needed
- Reliable transportation to travel between client homes
- Comfortable using basic technology such as scheduling apps, messaging, and digital communication with clients.
Contractors must also carry liability insurance while working on client properties. Heather’s Gardening Service contributes toward the cost of this insurance.
