Overview
Root River Logging is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fellerbuncher Operator to join our team. This is a field based position and camp stay and overtime hours may be required. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the safe, effective, and productive operation of a Fellerbuncher, including experience in the felling (cutting down) and bunching (collecting) of trees during forestry operations. This role is essential for maintaining forestry harvesting and processing workflow. The Operator will work closely with various tools, equipment, and other equipment operators, and will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our forestry operations.
Duties
- Operate Feller buncher and heavy equipment safely and efficiently during logging operations.
- Operate Feller buncher to fell and bunch trees at logging sites during forestry operations.
- Operate Feller buncher to occasionally slash, buck, and forward trees during forestry operations.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal and safe performance.
- Responsible for fueling the Feller buncher.
- Collaborate with other Root River Logging equipment operators to execute project plans effectively and safely.
- Maintain basic yet accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and project progress.
- Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in the safe and effective operation of a Feller buncher.
- Familiarity with forest harvesting and logging practices is preferred.
- Ability to maintain and fuel equipment and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic documentation skills to maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Must be able to work in a camp environment with flexibility in shift work.
- Willingness to travel and work in an outdoor environment in remote locations.
- Able to work cooperatively in a team, but also independently with little supervision.
- Physically fit to endure the rigors of full-time fieldwork in all conditions.
- Safe work mindset is required.
