1. JOB PURPOSE:
As a member of Alliance Eye Doctors, the Receptionist/ Optometric Assistant is responsible preparing the patients for their appointment. From making the patient feel comfortable to providing an elite level of customer service.
2. POSITION SUMMARY:
As the customers first point of contact, the Medical Receptionist educates, provides service to, and organizes all patients from the initial phone conversation to filing patient records. The Medical Receptionist is also responsible for the electronic management of patients’ files, for receiving and processing payments and for the administrative support of the optometrist and management team, quality pre-testing, imaging and visual field testing. This preparation helps the optometrist to provide better and more specialized care to patients. The pre-test technician will ensure the timely flow of patients from the waiting room to the exams rooms.
They are also responsible for administering eye drops and performing additional testing as prescribed by the optometrist.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcoming patients to the clinic
- Scheduling and confirming appointments in person, by phone and by email
- Work as a team player to ensure each patient receives the best service possible
- Perform tasks including confirming coverage, receiving payment, and general administrative tasks
- Answering and appropriately directing phone calls and emails
- Verifying Saskatchewan Health Care eligibility for select appointment ypes
- Completing monthly recalls to patients who are due for their annual or bi-annual eye exams
- Perform prescribed pre-tests and imaging to patient
- Administers drops in patients eyes as prescribed
- Perform visual field testing
- Perform additional testing prescribed by ODs (i.e.: O.C.T.)
- Data entry of testing and imaging results as necessary

Work Schedule Requirements: Candidates must be available to work weekends and at least one late weekday shift as part of their regular schedule.
