Job Description:
North Elm Furniture is seeking a Full-Time Sales Associate to join our team. The Sales Associate is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience by assisting customers with selecting furniture, mattresses, appliances, home décor, and other home products that meet their needs and preferences.
This role is responsible for achieving individual and store sales objectives while maintaining strong product knowledge, professional merchandising standards, and positive customer relationships.
The Sales Associate represents The Elmwood Group in a professional and courteous manner and contributes to a collaborative, customer-focused, and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales
- Welcome customers and provide professional, knowledgeable, and personalized service.
- Identify customer needs and recommend products and solutions that meet their lifestyle, budget, and design preferences.
- Build strong customer relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Prepare accurate sales quotations, invoices, financing applications, and special orders.
- Process customer transactions using the point-of-sale system.
- Follow up with customers regarding quotations, deliveries, special orders, and after-sale service.
- Achieve or exceed established individual and store sales targets.
- Promote current sales, financing options, warranties, and value-added services.
Product Knowledge
- Maintain current knowledge of furniture, appliances, mattresses, lighting, home décor, and related product lines.
- Stay informed on new products, vendor promotions, and industry trends.
- Communicate product features, benefits, warranties, and care instructions accurately.
Merchandising & Store Presentation
- Assist with maintaining attractive showroom displays and merchandise presentation.
- Ensure products are properly tagged, priced, and displayed according to company standards.
- Assist with floor moves, seasonal displays, and merchandising projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales floor.
Operational Support
- Coordinate with warehouse, delivery, and customer service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Monitor special orders and customer requests to ensure timely completion.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally or escalate issues to management when appropriate.
- Follow company policies regarding cash handling, financing, pricing, and documentation.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with all departments to achieve store goals.
- Support fellow team members during busy periods.
- Participate in meetings, product training, and ongoing development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous retail sales experience is preferred.
- Experience in furniture, appliances, home décor, or commission sales is considered an asset.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Comfortable using computers, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
