Key Responsibilities

Reports to the Manager of Patient Care Services and receives clinical direction and work assignments from the Senior Occupational Therapist.

Supports the Occupational Therapist in implementing approved treatment plans, therapeutic interventions, and rehabilitation programs.
- Provides patient-centred support aligned with established treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery goals.
- Assists with or delivers individual treatment interventions under the guidance and supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
- Assists in the planning, facilitation, and delivery of therapeutic group programs and activities.
- Supports patients in the use of adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and therapeutic tools to enhance independence and functional outcomes.
- Educates and demonstrates the safe and effective use of therapeutic and adaptive equipment.
- Monitors patient progress and promptly communicates observations, changes in condition, and relevant health information to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Participates in program, departmental, and organizational quality improvement initiatives and activities.
- Maintains clean, safe, and organized treatment environments in accordance with safety and infection prevention standards.
- Assists with the maintenance, monitoring, and inventory management of therapy equipment and program supplies.
Qualifications

Diploma in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Completion of Safety and Security in the Workplace Training, or willingness to complete the training prior to the commencement of employment.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in psychiatric and mental health care.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices to support patient care and rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decisions Act.
- Proficient in the use of computer applications, with the ability to support and coach patients in computer use as required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse patient populations and stakeholder groups.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Language Requirements
English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range:
35.35 to 38.64 per hour
