Adam Robertson Elementary is a school with approximately 311 students in kindergarten to grade 7. We are a school in School District #8 Kootenay Lake, and we are a part of the Creston Family of Schools.
Adam Robertson Elementary School is looking for a 0.8 FTE (Continuing) Intermediate classroom teacher. We are seeking an experienced classroom teacher to join our collaborative team of educators in delivering a dynamic and inclusive educational program. Our school culture is grounded in the Circle of Courage philosophy, and we expect staff to actively incorporate its four core values— Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity —into daily learning experiences. A commitment to collaboration, including buddy activities and school-wide initiatives, is essential.
The successful applicant will be a positive, energetic, and a collaborative educator who is organized and deeply committed to student-centered learning. They will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering curriculum across multiple subject areas, using current, research-based pedagogy to support student success. Proven experience in elementary teaching is required, along with the ability to follow school-based team plans that promote inclusion, align with positive behaviour expectations, and support the implementation of school and district strategic initiatives. As this role involves close collaboration with co-teachers, strong communication skills with students, staff, and parents are essential.

- A comprehensive understanding of BC’s revised curriculum, First Peoples Principles of Learning, and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices.

- Proven ability to implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment.
- Experience in designing and applying various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress.
- Commitment to professional learning with a desire to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies to support a creative, engaging, and inclusive classroom experience.
- Commitment to collaboration with students, parents and staff (both school and District) to enhance the school as a learning community.
- Demonstrated experience integrating outdoor education to enrich learning across multiple subject areas
- Training in trauma-informed practices (e.g.: Complex Trauma Resources, etc.).
- Experience with positive behaviour support, and a willingness to support the implementation of school-wide initiatives.

Salary Range; $68,589 - $114,833 per year, in accordance with the current SD8–Kootenay Lake / KLTF Collective Agreement. Placement on the salary grid is based on qualifications and years of teaching experience as evaluated by the BC Teacher Qualification Service (TQS).
