I'm a 31-year-old male quadriplegic living in Kamloops. I sustained a spinal cord injury in 2023 and am looking for a part-time Adaptive Lifestyle Assistant to help with day-to-day tasks.
This isn't a traditional care aide position. While there is some personal assistance involved, I'm primarily looking for someone who is practical, reliable, and enjoys solving problems. The ideal person is handy with tools—or at least interested in learning. Mechanical ability is a definite asset.
The work is varied, and no two days are exactly the same. Some of the tasks may include:
- General housekeeping and laundry
- Meal preparation
- Grocery shopping and errands
- Wheelchair maintenance and adjustments
- Hand cycle maintenance and basic repairs
- Small household projects and repairs
- Assisting me with staying active and getting out into the community
No previous caregiving experience is required. I'm happy to train the right person. I'm looking for someone who is dependable, easy-going, willing to learn, and has a positive attitude.
