About the Farm
Doe Creek Farm Ltd. is a grain farm north of Dawson Creek, B.C. We operate modern farm machinery and grow crops such as canola, wheat, barley and peas. Our experienced and strong farm team is looking for you to join our operation as an additional member.
Job Summary
We are currently looking for a mechanically skilled, reliable, and highly motivated individual to join our team. This position is perfect for someone experienced in repairing and maintaining farm equipment, trucks, or heavy machinery, who also enjoys operating equipment and assisting with daily farm tasks outside the shop. We're also open to a young family who enjoys living in the countryside and might be interested in getting involved in farm life.
Education
High School graduation or equivalent.
Main Duties
- Repair and maintain tractors, combines, seed drills, sprayers, trucks, trailers and other farm equipment.
- Perform inspections, servicing, greasing, welding, fabrication and seasonal maintenance.
- Keep maintenance records and report equipment issues.
- Operate farm equipment during seeding, spraying, harvest and grain handling.
- Operate farm trucks only if properly licensed.
- Assist with yard, bin, and general farm work.
- Support digitization of operating procedures.
- Follow safe work practices around machinery, trucks and chemicals
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of mechanical experience with farm equipment, trucks, heavy equipment, or similar machinery.
- Valid driver's license, minimum Class 5
- Ability to work mostly independently and troubleshoot problems.
- Willingness to work outside the shop and assist with general farm duties.
- Willingness to work longer hours during seeding and harvest.
- This position requires a dedicated individual capable of heavy lifting, working around complex machinery safely, and maintaining high standards of mechanical work in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in agricultural or industrial settings will be considered an asset for success in this role.
Preferred
- Class 1 license with air brakes.
- Welding/fabrication skills.
- Experience with operating farm equipment.
- Agricultural equipment technician, heavy-duty mechanic or truck mechanic background.
- IT skills: Able to perform basic tasks with MS Word and MS Excel, as well as with individual applications on farm equipment and in the shop.
Schedule
- Full-time position.
- 40 hours during the off-season, with longer days and weekend work required during seeding and harvest.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
