Position:
Retail Paint Sales Associate
- Part-time position (20 to 40 hours per week)
- Potential for increased hours with experience
- Potential for increased hours from June through September
Summary:

Interior design education or training a definite asset. Opportunity for in-home design consultations possible for the right candidate.
The primary responsibility of the Retail Sales Associate at Okotoks Decorating is to provide an exceptional customer experience. This includes assisting customers with colour selections, tinting and mixing paints and stains, as well as helping with paint and supply requirements. Other duties include, but not limited to, typical physical warehouse duties, merchandising, ordering, restocking, custom colour matching, and assisting the team as required. With adequate training, the position may be required to work in the store independently.
Compensation:
- $15.00 to $18.00 per hour depending upon experience
Skills and Experience:
- Hospitality industry skills and experience
- Retail and/or sales experience
- Customer service experience
- Interior design or decorating experience
- Commercial and contractor relationship experience
- Paint sales experience
- Paint tinting and mixing experience
- Knowledge of interior design, paint, and colour theory
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a diligent attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs
- Must be comfortable standing for extended periods of time
- Organized, timely and reliable
- Ability to multi-task with multiple customers during peak times
- Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
- Operational knowledge of point-of-sale systems and computer software
- Be comfortable assessing customer needs and advising the correct products for the job with certainty and authority
- Ability to build friendly, lasting and trusting relationships with customers and contractors
- Window Covering sales, knowledge, and experience is a definite asset
Position Requirements:
- Hospitality industry skills and experience: 2 years
- Customer service experience: 2 years
- Technical retail paint experience (Product knowledge, mixing, tinting, colour matching, etc.): 1-2 years (Preferred)
- Interior decorating or design experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Paint sales: 1 year (Preferred)
- Physical ability to repeatedly perform typical warehouse duties including bending, twisting, reaching, as well as lifting up to 75lbs (Required)
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Interior decorating or design diploma or equivalent
