Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Dock Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our clients warehouse center. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of supply chain processes, and proficiency with various ERP and warehouse management systems. This role involves supervising dock activities, managing team performance, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing workflow efficiency.
Operational Leadership
- Leads by example and maintains a strong presence on the dock.
- Hands-on leader who is willing to operate a forklift ("jump on a motor") whenever required.
- Effectively prioritizes workload to meet departure and delivery schedules.
- Makes sound decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Holds employees accountable while maintaining a respectful and professional work environment.
LTL Cross Dock Operations
- Strong understanding of LTL freight handling and cross-dock operations.
- Experience planning dock flow to maximize productivity and minimize freight touches.
- Knowledge of freight segregation by destination, route, and service level.
- Familiarity with loading and unloading trailers for optimal cube utilization and freight protection.
- Ability to identify and resolve operational bottlenecks quickly.
Forklift & Material Handling
- Highly proficient operating sit-down forklifts.
- Safe handling of palletized, oversized, temperature control and fragile freight.
- Ability to train and coach others on proper material handling techniques.
- Commitment to minimizing freight damage through proper loading practices.
Safety & Compliance
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Knowledge of forklift safety, dock safety, and safe lifting practices.
- Experience conducting safety meetings and reinforcing safe work habits.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership
- Builds a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Coaches employees to improve performance and productivity.
- Addresses attendance, performance, and behavioural issues promptly.
- Works collaboratively with dispatch, customer service, drivers, and terminal leadership.

- Organizes labour according to freight volumes.
- Manages dock congestion and trailer movements efficiently.

- Adapts quickly to changing freight volumes and operational priorities.

- Identifies issues before they become service failures.
- Makes timely operational decisions with limited supervision.
- Investigates freight discrepancies and implements corrective actions.

Technology
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams).
- Ability to learn new operational systems quickly.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of LTL dock experience.
- 2+ years leading a dock or warehouse team.
- Experience in cross-dock operations.
- Forklift certification (or ability to become certified).
Experience in transportation, logistics, or freight operations
Pay: $58,000.00-$61,000.00 per year
