Hardware Test Engineer
Location: Berkeley, CA (Onsite)
Contract-to-Hire: 6+ months
Pay Rate: $47 - $52 per hour
Key Responsibilities

Assume ownership of existing Bed-of-Nails (BON) test systems, including maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and documentation.

Develop, execute, and support hardware test procedures for prototype and production products.

Design, modify, and maintain automated test applications using C#.

Perform board-level and system-level functional testing and validation.

Investigate test failures, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.

Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to diagnose product issues.

Support manufacturing test operations and improve test coverage, yield, and efficiency.

Maintain test documentation, procedures, and records.

Assist with test fixture development, calibration, and maintenance.

Analyze test data and provide reporting to engineering and management teams.

Support new product introductions (NPI) and production transitions.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of experience in hardware testing, validation, or manufacturing test engineering.

Experience developing or supporting automated test systems using C#.

Strong troubleshooting skills involving electronic hardware and test equipment.

Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and laboratory equipment.

Understanding of electronics fundamentals and circuit operation.

Ability to read schematics, test procedures, and engineering documentation.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Bed-of-Nails (BON) testing environments and production test fixtures.

Working knowledge of Linux and command-line tools.

Experience supporting manufacturing or high-volume production environments.

Familiarity with Python or Bash scripting.

Experience with test automation frameworks and data collection systems.

Exposure to embedded systems, firmware testing, or device communications protocols.
