A manufacturing company in Brantford is currently hiring for a vacant Engineer position.
Position Overview
Manage technical projects including new product development and the re-engineering of existing products to improve cost efficiency and performance.
Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and detailed design for both new and existing products. Interface with suppliers and customers as required.
Knowledge and Experience
- 5+ years of progressive engineering design and supervisory experience in an environment that values precision engineering and high production quality.
- College diploma or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in mechanical product design, material selection, and stress analysis.
- Experience managing technical projects from concept through production.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing documentation.
- Preparation of accurate, clear detail and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks in accordance with drafting standards.
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
- Experience with mechanical testing equipment and methods, along with knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience developing cost estimates for manufactured products.
- Practical experience evaluating product applications with respect to fit, form, function, and safety.
- Experience working within a technical team and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license in Ontario is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Manage technical projects to completion in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Lead detailed design and development of products and processes within defined objectives.
- Perform calculations and layouts required to produce final design documentation.
- Maintain existing product designs, including reviews for improvements and cost reductions.
- Create and maintain bills of materials and related design documentation, including specifications and drawings.
- Review and approve work completed by other members of the technical team under the direction of the Engineering Manager.
- Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
