Responsibilities
- Assist with the layout, excavation, and installation of underground piping systems using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and skidsteers
- Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently, including low voltage equipment like bucket trucks and rigging setups for lifting and positioning pipes
- Prepare work sites by clearing debris, setting up safety barriers, and ensuring proper site access for all equipment and personnel
- Follow safety protocols rigorously to prevent accidents, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety guidelines for heavy equipment operation
- Assist with the rigging, lifting, and placement of pipes or materials using hand tools, power tools, and rigging gear to ensure precise alignment and secure connections
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of piping systems, tools, and basic electrical concepts
- Experience operating, or working around excavators, backhoes, low voltage equipment, and other heavy machinery
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in construction and pipe laying tasks
- Knowledge of rigging techniques for lifting heavy materials safely
- Strong safety awareness with a focus on maintaining a safe work environment at all times
