Our client, is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support a large-scale capital project within a marine terminals environment in British Columbia. This role is critical in ensuring safe execution across a complex brownfield construction setting. The successful candidate will work closely with site teams and contractors to maintain strong safety performance and compliance throughout all project phases.
- Act as the site’s primary safety resource for supervisors, contractors, and trades
- Conduct regular field inspections, audits, and safety observations to ensure compliance
- Lead hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and safe work planning activities
- Support permit-to-work systems and verify controls before high-risk work begins
- Monitor critical tasks such as LOTO, confined space entry, working at heights, and lifting operations
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions
- Deliver onboarding, orientations, and ongoing safety coaching to site personnel
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking
- Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in construction, industrial, or heavy industrial SMPP environments
- Professional safety designation (CRSP, NCSO, CSO, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety compliance standards
- Experience supporting projects in active or brownfield operational environments
- Hands-on experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with permit systems, LOTO procedures, and hazard identification processes
- Ability to influence safe behavior and build strong relationships on site
- Proficiency with safety reporting tools and Microsoft Office
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and flexibility to support varied work schedules
- Experience at marine terminals, ports, or bulk material handling facilities
- Additional certifications such as First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, or Incident Investigation
- Full-time contract role
- Site-based
- Occasional evening and weekend work required based on project needs
The estimated pay rate for this position is CAD $50 to CAD $80 per hour as of the posting date. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and training.
