Part-time - Fall 2026 Session

The Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club is seeking a couple of Part-Time Swim Lessons Instructors for our learn to swim program. This position will consist of in-water instructing 2-15 hours per week, depending on your availability. GMAC is a Not-for-Profit swim club that has between 1100-1600 swimmers registered throughout the fall, winter, spring, and June sessions.
Seeking enthusiastic, outgoing, knowledgeable swim instructors!
Responsibilities:
- Must be available to instruct after school/evenings, Saturdays and/or Sundays available for mid September until early December for the Fall session (depending on the day of the week) and optimistically to continue on for the Winter session and beyond!
Available shifts and hiring for :
- Sundays Sept 20- Dec 6th (off Thanksgiving) 8am-145pm at the VD pool, looking for someone 8am-1125am and 8am-12noon only
Shifts full but available for back up :
- Mondays at UofG 4-6pm Sept 14-Dec 7th (MONDAYS NOW FULL, back up only)
- Tuesdays at VD pool 5-8pm Sept 15-Dec 8th (TUESDAYS NOW FULL, back up only)
- Saturdays at UofG 1-3pm Sept 12th - Nov 28th (off thanksgiving) (SATURDAYS NOW FULL, back up only)
Mandatory training time Sept 11th UofG - 5-7pm in water, 7-8pm classroom
- Work with developmental group/learn to swim swimmers from age 3 to 14
- Instruct swimmers on proper swimming technique as per criteria set and take feedback to adapt to presentation of skills
- Create positive fun environment encouraging swimmers passion for the sport of swimming
- Establish positive professional relationship with swimmers, parents and other coaches
- Provide feedback and correction to each and every swimmer at each lesson
- Write report cards for each swimmer prior to end of session.
Qualifications:
- NCCP 101 an asset but not necessary
- City Instructor certification - an asset
- Experience providing swim lessons
- competitive swimmer background a plus
- Has knowledge of technical and training aspects of competitive swimming.
- Ability to communicate with swimmers, staff and parents is a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and in team environment
- Must complete Safe Sport free clinic via coach.ca
- Upon hiring, if 18&over must present an up to date police check within 48 hours
- Be a positive and enthusiastic role model
Experience in competitive swimming/coaching/instructing/lessons preferred Training can be provided in order to receive proper status for coaching.
$20.50/hour for regular instructors, $21.50/hour for those with NCCP 1
