SSA Marine is seeking a Coordinator, Cruise Services to join our Canada Place team. This full-time, permanent position is based out of our office in Vancouver and reports to the Supervisor, Cruise Operations.
The Position
The Coordinator, Cruise Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational, security, passenger flows, ground transportation, and traffic management activities of Canada Place Cruise Terminal. Reporting to the Supervisor, Cruise Operations, this position serves as the primary operational resource during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, secure, efficient, and customer-focused operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, SSA Marine policies, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities & Activities

Support cruise operations planning by helping develop, implement, and improve operational, security, emergency, and contingency procedures.

Assist with planning for new vessel calls, special events, overnight vessels, and other unique operational requirements.

Collaborate with cruise lines, government agencies, terminal stakeholders, and service providers on operational planning and coordination.

Coordinate daily Canada Place Cruise Terminal operations, ensuring safe, secure, and efficient movement of passengers, vehicles, screening services, and ground transportation.

Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to contractors, traffic attendants, and service providers to ensure operational, safety, and customer service standards are met.

Respond to operational issues, incidents, delays, and emergencies; implement corrective actions and prepare operational and regulatory reports.

Manage operational resources by coordinating contractor access, equipment, supplies, inventory, and facility requirements while monitoring costs and reviewing expenditures.

Promote and maintain compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental standards, including regulatory requirements, inspections, audits, incident investigations, and emergency preparedness activities.

Support the Marine Facility Security Officer (MFSO) program and contribute to security plans, audits, drills, and exercises.

Foster teamwork and operational excellence by providing guidance, training, coaching, performance feedback, stakeholder relationship management, continuous improvement support, and other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
The successful candidate will coordinate daily cruise terminal operations by liaising with cruise lines, regulatory agencies, contractors, transportation providers, and terminal personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. They will provide operational guidance to service providers, prepare operational and regulatory documentation, and represent SSA Marine during meetings, inspections, emergency exercises, and stakeholder engagements. This role operates in a dynamic environment requiring frequent interaction with passengers and stakeholders, significant physical activity, and the ability to work in both office and outdoor conditions, including performing tasks that may involve heavy physical exertion.
The qualifications and skills to be successful in this position include:

Post-secondary education in business, operations, security, emergency management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum five years of experience in operations, transportation, logistics, security, emergency management, or a similar operational environment.

Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder, unionized environments.

Knowledge of terminal operations, passenger processing, transportation logistics, contractor coordination, and security operations; cruise industry experience is an asset.

Working knowledge of health and safety legislation, emergency management principles, regulatory requirements, and marine security regulations.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with government agencies, regulatory bodies, contractors, and external stakeholders.

Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder engagement, planning, project coordination, and Microsoft Office skills.

Ability to work flexible schedules, manage competing priorities, adapt to changing operational demands, maintain confidentiality, and uphold safety, security, environmental, and compliance standards.
