The Charge Nurse (RN) plays an important leadership role in ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, resident-centered care within our Long Term Care Home and Retirement Residence. Working collaboratively with residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team, the Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership, staff support, and operational oversight while promoting a culture of compassion, accountability, and excellence. This temporary full-time maternity leave replacement position is anticipated to run from July 2026 through August or September 2027 and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to lead a dedicated team while making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors.

Position Details:
· Temporary Full-Time (Maternity Leave Coverage)
· Anticipated Term: July 2026 – August/September 2027
· 12-Hour Shifts: 9:00a.m. – 9:00p.m.
· Includes every other weekend
Qualifications:
· Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN)
· Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience required
· Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience considered a strong asset
· Experience in long-term care, retirement living, assisted living, community nursing, or a related healthcare environment preferred
· Demonstrated knowledge of resident-centered care practices, seniors' care, and applicable healthcare legislation
· Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution abilities
· Ability to coach, mentor, and support nursing staff in a collaborative manner
· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities
· Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic documentation systems
· Current CPR certification required
Areas of Responsibility:
· Provides leadership and clinical oversight for nursing services within the Long Term Care Home and Retirement Residence
· Promotes resident-centered care, service excellence, and regulatory compliance
· Supports, mentors, and supervises nursing staff to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care delivery
· Ensures teamwork, positive public relations, and respect for all individuals in all aspects of the position
· Provides excellent service to residents, families, visitors, physicians, and co-workers through courtesy, compassion, and respect
Functions:
- Provides day-to-day clinical leadership and support to nursing staff and care teams
- Oversees resident care delivery and ensures care is provided in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and legislative requirements
- Conducts resident assessments and supports care planning, care conferences, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Responds to resident, family, and staff concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Coordinates and supports daily nursing operations, staffing, and workflow management
- Assists with staff scheduling, orientation, training, coaching, and ongoing support
- Participates in employee performance management processes in collaboration with nursing leadership
- Supports quality improvement initiatives and promotes best practices in resident care
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation, communication, and reporting
- Collaborates with physicians, pharmacies, community agencies, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
- Supports incident investigations, risk management activities, and appropriate follow-up actions
- Promotes compliance with infection prevention and control practices, occupational health and safety requirements, and emergency preparedness procedures
- Participates in audits, inspections, accreditation activities, and regulatory compliance initiatives as required
- Maintains confidentiality and protects resident privacy in accordance with organizational policies and legislation
- Fosters a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment
- Supports organizational goals, resident satisfaction, and continuous quality improvement efforts
- Performs other related duties as required
