Camp Muskoka Outdoor Education Leadership Centre & Summer Camp
Located in Bracebridge, Ontario, Camp Muskoka is a premier outdoor education and leadership development centre serving more than 10,000 youth annually. From March through November (excluding July and August), we host curriculum-based outdoor education programs, leadership training, school groups, and weekend retreats, including weddings, church groups, corporate events, and private gatherings.
During July and August, our site becomes home to our summer camp program for boys and girls ages 6–16. Across all programs, our mission is to build confidence, foster teamwork, and help young people discover their potential.
Position Summary
The Kitchen Helper supports the Kitchen Team in providing nutritious, high-quality meals for campers, guests, and staff. This role assists with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, receiving deliveries, and ensuring all food service areas meet health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal service for more than 300 campers, guests, and staff.
- Help prepare ingredients, snacks, salads, desserts, and other menu items as directed.
- Set up, stock, and maintain serving areas.
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supply deliveries.
- Rotate inventory using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining hall, and food preparation areas.
- Assist with kitchen cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and waste disposal.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Team to ensure a positive dining experience for campers and guests.
- Support a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous kitchen, food service, camp, restaurant, or hospitality experience is considered an asset.
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Safe Food Handling Certification (required within the first month of employment).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, hardworking, and positive attitude.
- Ability to provide a recent Criminal Record Check.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, and cleaning.
- Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
