Director of Childcare Program (Leave Coverage)
Little Treasures is a licensed early learning and child care centre committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow. Our dedicated team of educators is passionate about early childhood development and creating a positive impact in our community.
We are currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dynamic Director to lead our early learning program and support our mission of providing high-quality care and education for children aged 0–6 years. Our center operates year-round, Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and is licensed for up to 144 children. Please note that at this time this is a temporary position to cover a medical leave, but may be extended into a permanent position with the program at the end of the coverage. This leadership role requires a dedicated, energetic individual with proven experience managing a large early childhood education center and leading a diverse team of educators. Previous experience as a Director in a high-capacity child care setting is essential for success in this position.
What You Need:
- Level 3 Alberta Early Childhood Education required
- First Aid & CPR
- Criminal Record Clearance & Vulnerable Sector Search
- Food Safety certification
- Class 4 license (have or willing to obtain; back up in case driver is away)
- Management experience

As Director you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the centre in a professional manner. Please note that this position will have administration, but is mostly floor based coaching, role modelling, and working with the Airdrie team. This can be doing observations, assisting the classroom educators, assisting the children, break coverage, etc. The Director will need to lead by example, maintaining a positive environment in all matters ensuring all employees follow and adhere to all policies and procedures.
As Director your day would include:
- Classroom Guidance (not in ratio, but classroom training and support)
- Parent Engagement
- Team Management (training, hiring, guidance, reviews, etc.)
- Licensing Compliance
- Fire and Health Safety Compliance
- Team & Centre Activities
- Scheduling
- Tours & Registration of New Families
- Classroom Observations
- Budgeting
- Administration (billing, invoices, educator/child hours, etc.)

The Director is responsible to:
- Oversee the operations of all facilities within the centre
- Ensure compliance with licensing, health, fire, and all policies/procedures of the company
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of facility management principles and best practices
- Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
