ROTATION: 14 Days On, followed by 14 Days Off (inclusive of travel time)
HOURS OF WORK: 12-hour shifts
Lac Des Iles mine site is 700-person mining camp located roughly 2hrs outside of Thunder Bay. While working the 14 days on, you are required to live on site for those 2 weeks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
- Well presented in appearance including clean hands and fingernails, cleanly shaven (or neatly trimmed facial hair and beard nets worn), clean uniforms always worn.
- Proper PPE shall be always worn where tasks require. (Eye protection, High Vis clothing, earmuffs etc.)
- Carrying a radio/walkie talky and ensuring it is always turned on for communication purposes.
- Ensure WHMIS practices are strictly always followed and adhered to.
- General duties include but are not limited to: Sweeping and mopping floors. Vacuuming carpets and rugs, dusting and polishing furniture and fittings, cleaning metal fixtures and fittings, emptying and cleaning waste containers, disposing of trash appropriately in a sanitary manner, Cleaning and washing of basins, mirrors, and showers, wiping down glass surfaces, washing windows.
- Operate and maintain mechanized cleaning equipment in a safe and sanitary working condition.
- Monitor and report any necessary domestic repairs and replacements around the facilities to Management.
- Following daily cleaning schedules provided by management and reporting any areas that require cleaning.
- Ensure safe transportation of food from the main camp to the mine while adhering to all food safety regulations.
- As a site cleaner, you are required to do dump runs and operate the company truck. A valid driver license is required, and clean driving record is mandatory.
- As a site cleaner, part of your job is to drive the bus when required and passing the LDI and adhering to the LDI training course is mandatory.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the manager based on operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Highschool / GED
- 1 year minimum experience in janitorial operations or equivalent combination of educations and experience.
- Valid Workplace materials Information System Certificate (WHMIS)
- Ability to promote a positive safety culture by communicating with the entire workforce daily.
- Valid Full G drivers license
- Food Safety Certification (FST) or successful completion immediately upon hire.
- Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate.
