At SMS Equipment, our Supervisor, Mining Field is responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of field service activities at customer mine sites. This role provides hands-on leadership to a team of tradespeople maintaining and repairing heavy mining and construction equipment. You will play a key role in driving safety, quality, and performance while supporting both employees and customers in a dynamic field environment.
Work Location: Timmins, ON
Salary: $115,000 – $120,000 per year plus Field Supervisor Work Location Allowance (~ $30,000 annually, prorated per pay)
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working at various customer mine sites
Schedule: 14x14 rotation (accommodations available)
What You’ll Do
- Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner through observations, inspections, and clear expectations
- Supervise and coordinate a travelling team of tradespeople completing field service work at mine sites
- Plan and oversee maintenance activities including equipment rebuilds, outages, and new build projects
- Develop and manage work plans and schedules, including the use of project planning tools such as Gantt charts
- Monitor progress against plans, adjusting labour and resources to meet timelines and commitments
- Communicate updates to customers and internal stakeholders on project status, priorities, and changes
- Support quality of work through in-process checks and follow-up on any required corrections
What You Bring
You bring 3+ years of experience supervising in mining or construction environments, along with technical knowledge of heavy equipment and an approach that supports safe and consistent team performance in a field environment. Additional requirements include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Relevant trades experience in a mining and/or construction environment
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment
- Working knowledge of OHSE regulations and equipment inspection requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Class 5/G driver’s license
Nice to Haves
- Journeyperson Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification
- Project Manager experience or training
- Bilingual, English and French
