Position: Junior Sommelier
Location: Alberta Rockies
Position Overview:
Junior Sommelier assists in the execution of an exceptional wine program and contributes to the overall success of the beverage service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Sommelier and Senior Food and Beverage Operations Manager in maintaining an outstanding wine list and inventory.
- Learn and provide recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu choices.
- Assist in organizing and participating in wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and patrons.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to understand and create wine pairings for special events and promotions.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of wines, adhering to quality standards.
- Contribute to managing wine inventory, monitoring sales trends, and optimizing stock levels.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new releases, and emerging winemakers.
- Uphold high standards of service etiquette and professionalism.
- Engage in the ongoing development and updating of the wine program.
Qualifications:
- Certification in wine studies or Sommelier training.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end restaurant.
- Enthusiastic about wine and eager to expand knowledge in the field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-focused with a passion for enhancing the dining experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Capable of lifting and carrying wine cases, standing for extended periods, and moving comfortably in a restaurant setting.
