We are seeking a dedicated and fast-paced Kitchen Helper / Line Cook to join our vibrant culinary team. This role is essential for supporting daily kitchen operations, executing authentic Indian dishes, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, strong line cooking skills, and specific experience handling a tandoor and preparing large-batch biryanis. Responsibilities
- Line Cooking & Execution: Work the hot line during busy service hours, ensuring the accurate, fast, and high-quality execution of curries, appetizers, and fusion dishes.
- Tandoor Operation: Manage the tandoor oven, ensuring the proper cooking of various breads (naan, roti) and marinated meats (kebabs, tikka) to authentic standards.
- Biryani Preparation: Assist the head chef with the daily preparation, layering, and cooking of signature biryanis (e.g., Hyderabadi, South Indian styles).
- Prep Work: Assist in general food preparation, including chopping, peeling, measuring ingredients, and preparing marinades and base gravies.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including the line, prep stations, dishwashing area, and walk-in coolers.
- Food Safety: Handle food safely and ensure the proper storage and labeling of ingredients to prevent contamination and minimize waste.
- Team Collaboration: Assist in setting up workstations before service and smoothly breaking them down during closing.
- Compliance: Strictly follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a line cook, prep cook, or kitchen helper in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Indian cuisine, specifically with operating a tandoor and preparing biryani.
- Strong knowledge of safe food handling procedures and kitchen sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently on a busy line and handle multiple tickets simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to consistent food presentation and taste.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cohesively as part of a kitchen team.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain a clean workstation under pressure.
