Waring House Restaurant and Inn in Picton, Prince Edward County is seeking a prep cook /breakfast assistant immediately. Further training on the job is available. The restaurant serves breakfast followed at noon by an all day dining menu.
Waring House has two restaurants and a banquet hall and food prep may vary as required between these areas. The restaurant serves breakfast to guests accommodated in our 49 guest rooms and is also open to the general public. We seek employees with experience but also with an interest in learning and acquiring new skills and knowledge.
Practices at Waring House include: sourcing and serving local produce including that grown in our onsite garden or purchased at market gardens located in the immediate vicinity , sourcing local and seasonal foods of all kinds to reduce the environmental footprint of restaurant service. Using only tracible fishes and seafood, energy conservation, recycling , and food share are all goals we are working on at Waring House. An interest and willingness to be a participant and even a leader in these areas is important.
Flexibility with hours exists but at least two days a week is currently needed for breakfast service with additional hours for food prep. Other line cook hours may potentially be available.
Up to date Public Health Safe Food Handlers Certification is required or must be updated in a timely manner. Wage offered is dependent on experience and perceived ability at the time of hiring with potential for advancement.
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
