POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Platoon Supervisor, you will provide leadership, direction and support to Public Safety Communicators while helping ensure the effective operations of the PECC South location and its systems. In this role, you will lead emergency communications services responsible for answering 9-1-1 calls across Saskatchewan communities and dispatching multiple fire and rescue agencies. You will play a key role in advancing a service delivery model designed to support future growth and potential expansion into law enforcement and police communications services.
In this position, you will apply quality control and due diligence practices within CanOps operating parameters, support compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements, and provide operational direction under the delegated authority of the Communications Centre Operations Manager.
Platoon Supervisors work a rotational schedule consisting of days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays with their assigned platoon.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in Canada.
- Minimum four years of experience in emergency communications, public safety, emergency response, or a related operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and support team performance in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute accurately.
- Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn and navigate multiple software systems.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Successful completion of a hearing assessment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.
- Successful completion of additional background screening, assessments, and verification processes as required for the position.

TRAINING
CanOps is committed to setting employees up for success through comprehensive paid training.
Training for successful candidates will primarily occur in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and is expected to last approximately 16 weeks. During training, employees will:
- Receive their full rate of pay.
- Be reimbursed for approved travel-related expenses, including mileage, accommodations, and meals.
- Receive the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to succeed in the role.
- Work alongside experienced communications professionals and operational leaders.
Candidates must be willing and able to travel to Prince Albert for training. Following onboarding, occasional travel may be required for operational activities, meetings, projects, and organizational initiatives.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: Provincial Emergency Communications Centre South, Regina, Saskatchewan.
Hours of Work: 2,080 hours annually. Initial training is conducted Monday to Friday during regular daytime business hours. Upon successful completion of training, shift work consists of 12-hour shifts on a rotation, including days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Travel Requirements: Regular travel to Prince Albert will be required during training. Occasional travel may also be required following training to support operational and organizational needs.
Physical Demands: This role requires extended periods of sitting and working in a high-paced, focused, technology-driven communications centre environment.
