Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Litigation Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all phases of litigation, providing expert legal advice, and representing clients in court proceedings. This role requires a strong understanding of civil and commercial law, excellent research and writing skills, and proficiency with legal research tools such as LexisNexis. The Litigation Lawyer will play a vital role in developing case strategies, negotiating settlements, and ensuring the best outcomes for our clients.
Duties
- Act as counsel in creditors’ rights and recovery matters on behalf of financial institutions and commercial clients.
- Prepare and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and litigation documents with precision and clarity.
- Develop case strategies by analyzing facts, evidence, and applicable laws.
- Appear regularly before the courts to advance clients’ interests..
- Negotiate settlements effectively while safeguarding client interests.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing timely updates and strategic guidance.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
- Contribute to firm initiatives and demonstrate a strong commitment to professional excellence.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or the Law Society of Alberta, with willingness to obtain membership in additional jurisdictions as required.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
- Strong organizational and file-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear, concise legal documents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal drafting and analysis.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team under tight deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
