Empringham Disposal is growing and seeking a reliable, safety‑focused Shop Hand with a Class 5 license to join our operations team. This role offers plenty of variety—support daily operations by transporting parts and materials, keeping the shop and yard clean and organized, and assisting with equipment repairs and maintenance. Tasks may include bin painting and labeling, helping mechanics, and general housekeeping. You’ll follow all safety procedures, take part in training, and build technical skills through hands‑on work.

Key Responsibilities
General Labour & Bin Maintenance
· Perform bin painting, including surface prep, priming, and applying decals
· Install, replace, and repair lids, hinges, wheels, locking mechanisms, and other bin components, conduct general bin maintenance
· Apply decals, numbering, and branding to bins according to company standards
· Assist with yard organization, equipment cleaning, and shop housekeeping
· Participate in seasonal tasks such as snow clearing, yard cleanup, and outdoor repairs
Customer Service & Documentation
· Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and team members
· Maintain accurate paperwork, service logs, and safety documentation
Safety & Compliance
· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental standards.
· Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks.
· Report incidents, near misses, or injuries promptly and accurately.
· Ensure compliance with provincial and federal transportation regulations.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
· Clean driver’s abstract with a strong safety record.
· Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors year‑round.
Additional Skills
· Strong driving skills with a focus on safety and situational awareness.
· Ability to work independently and follow established routes and schedules.
· Good communication and customer‑service skills.
· Mechanically inclined
· Proficient with basic hand tools and power tools
· Comfortable with painting prep, painting and applying decals
· Physical stamina to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and maneuver materials and containers.
· Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
· Ability to adapt to changing routes, weather, and operational needs.

Working Conditions
