The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in mental health and addiction. The Campbell Family Mental Health Research Institute (CFMHRI) brings together multidisciplinary scientists to advance discovery and improve outcomes for people affected by mental illness.

We are seeking an exceptional full-time, contract (12 months) Scientific Associate to support the launch and development of CAMH’s inaugural Women’s Mental Health Discovery Hub. This role will report to the Treliving Family Chair in Women’s Mental Health to strengthen institute-wide research capacity and ensure rigorous application of the scientific method across study design, analysis, interpretation, and knowledge translation.

The position is ideal for an interdisciplinary doctorate-level subject matter expert in women’s mental health and addictions & sex and gender-informed research who is committed to methodological rigor, collaborative science, and advancing women’s mental health research across the lifespan.

The Women’s Mental Health Discovery Hub (the “Hub”) is an institute-wide initiative designed to connect and strengthen existing CAMH research programs through sex and gender-informed science.

Rather than replacing existing centres, the Hub integrates them by providing scientific expertise, coordination, and shared infrastructure to accelerate discovery in women’s mental health across the lifespan, including hormonal transitions and intersecting biological, genetic, molecular, psychological, and social determinants of health.

The Scientific Associate will support the development and implementation of the Women’s Mental Health Discovery Hub. Working with investigators, trainees, and institutional partners, the successful candidate will help build collaborative research capacity, strengthen grant competitiveness, and support the integration of women’s health, sex- and gender-informed approaches across CAMH research programs.

Responsibilities

Support the launch and ongoing development of the Hub

Contribute to institute-wide scientific strategy and research integration

Identify opportunities for cross-program collaboration and capacity building

Support development of shared infrastructure, tools, and internal funding initiatives

Provide expertise in sex and gender-informed research design, methods, and analysis

Support development of rigorous, ethical, and inclusive research protocols

Advise on study design, measurement, and data management across mental health and addictions disciplines

Support clinical integration of women’s mental health and addictions research

Promote best practices in research ethics, governance, and data stewardship

Co-develop interdisciplinary grant applications and research proposals

Support manuscripts, presentations, and scholarly outputs

Contribute to dissemination and knowledge translation activities

Engage with academic, clinical, community, and lived-experience partners

Translate complex findings for diverse scientific and non-scientific audiences

Coordinate scientific activities across collaborative research projects

Provide methodological support across research programs

Support project planning, implementation, and reporting

Mentor trainees and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative research environment

Qualifications

PhD in Neuroscience, Psychology, Epidemiology, Translational Science, Genetics, Computational Science, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, or related field
1 year of relevant research experience
Demonstrated expertise in sex- and gender-informed research and/or women’s mental health and addictions
Experience in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research design and analysis
Strong publication record and experience contributing to successful grant applications
Experience working in interdisciplinary research environments
Knowledge of research ethics, data governance, privacy, and responsible conduct of research
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience mentoring trainees or junior staff is an asset
Experience with implementation science or evaluation methods is an asset

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $93,822.73 – $117,278.41 per year.
Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $93,822.73 – $140,734.09 per year
