A DAY IN THE LIFE
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be at the forefront of our pre-construction efforts, bringing clarity, accuracy, and strategy to every bid. Your work will directly influence project success and set the stage for seamless execution.
- Lead the preparation of detailed, accurate, and competitive estimates for mechanical projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and requirements
- Perform precise quantity takeoffs across a range of mechanical systems
- Leverage tools such as Trimble AutoBid to build comprehensive and data-driven estimates
- Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities early in the bidding process and recommend solutions
- Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and coordinators to align on project strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- Support smooth project transitions through thorough handoff processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement through post-project reviews and cost analysis
- Ensure all estimates align with applicable codes, standards, and company best practices
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating within commercial or multi-residential construction
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and local market conditions
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Demonstrated expertise in quantity takeoffs and cost estimation
- Proficiency with Trimble AutoBid and Microsoft Office
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience with AutoCAD and ability to interpret or develop drawings
- Class 5 driver’s license
