Requirements: The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:
- Bachelor of Education
- Able to administer Level B individual assessments (WIAT, Woodcock Johnson, Key Math and others).
- Experience with supporting students who have English as an Additional Language.
- Experience with teaching Physical Education.
- Experience in the coordination of programming for students with special needs in an outreach education environment.
- Experience in developing Behaviour Support Plans and tracking of behavior incidents.
- Student-centred inclusive approach to instruction and teacher-student relationships.
- Ability to design, program, and implement instruction for students with special needs.
- Supporting students to increase independence, enhance self-esteem and improve social/interpersonal skills.
- Experience with the Leader in Me Program/Philosophy.
- Ability to process and manage confidential records.
- Ability to work with parents, social agencies and support organizations.
- Effective organizational and classroom management skills.
- Successful experience working with students with a broad spectrum of learning needs.
- Recognize the importance of making strong and positive connections with students inside and outside of the classroom in the larger school culture (ie: clubs and teams).
- Be a reflective practitioner.
- A strong Literacy and Numeracy background.
- A willingness to work with parents, social agencies and organizations.
- Strong collaborative team player and a positive staff member.
- Experience with Google Suite Programs is required.
