This position is located in Essex, ON, and primarily involves driving duties. However, it also includes responsibilities as a Material Handler as needed. If you are a skilled driver with a commitment to safety and efficiency, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload products and materials manually or with basic equipment.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
- Complete end-of-shift paperwork, including Daily Log reports, Inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, and hours of service.
- Deliver products and paperwork to customers courteously and promptly.
- Ensure materials are protected from outdoor elements and loads are securely fastened.
- Oversee cargo handling, secure loads, prepare equipment, and comply with safety regulations.
- Maneuver trucks for loading and unloading, ensuring correct vehicle positioning and proper use of loading equipment.
- Use truck cab computers and cell phones to exchange information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
- Perform warehouse duties as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Skills:
- Ability to drive safely in all weather conditions using defensive driving.
- A team player in a client focused, professional environment communicating with clients while receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Certification from recognized Truck Driving School
- Air Brake Endorsement (Z)
- Class 3 driver’s License (D)
- Comfortable with numbers and finding information, significant use of memory required
- Ability to read, speak and write English
- Comfortable with computers (computerized inventory control system)
- Experience using Dollies, Hand trucks, strapping machines, Pallet lifters, Industrial lift trucks and forklifts
- Ability to handle weights up to 50lbs
