Overview – About the Role
We are a growing fractional CFO and accounting services firm seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accountant to join our team. You will handle day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of clients, working closely with our Controller and senior finance leadership to ensure accurate, audit-ready books and timely compliance deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries on a daily basis
- Post daily cash transactions and import bank data into accounting software
- Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Process payroll and remit payroll source deductions to CRA on schedule
- Prepare and file HST returns in compliance with CRA deadlines
- Prepare T4 slips and year-end payroll summaries
- Assist with monthly close procedures, including posting adjusting journal entries
- Maintain and update rolling cash flow reports and flag liquidity concerns
- Support preparation of financial statements under ASPE
- Organize documentation to support external audits and auditor requests
- Follow and help maintain internal controls, approval workflows, and filing standards
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (public practice or multi-client experience is an asset)
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA pursuit is a plus
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Solid understanding of Canadian payroll rules, HST, and CRA filing requirements
- Working knowledge of ASPE financial reporting standards
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously with professionalism
- Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset, including familiarity with project-based accounting, job costing
Pay: $44,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
