About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Wall Panel Design Manager to lead, coordinate, and maintain quality control for our wall panel operations. In this role, you will oversee project design, drafting standards, quality assurance, customer coordination, and manufacturing support for multi-family and commercial wood framing projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Team Leadership: Assign wall panel and truss projects to designers, train the team on standards, and evaluate performance.
· Project Setup: Review awarded jobs for material quoting accuracy, set up design books, manage material submittals, and issue initial RFIs.
· Coordination: Schedule project kick-off meetings, communicate with customer Project Managers, and relay plan changes, trade requirements, and rough opening details to designers.
· Log Management: Maintain RFI and COR logs, ensure change orders are submitted and approved on time, and keep the Smartsheet "Design Log" updated.
· Quality Control: Review shop drawings, panel layouts, elevations, and manufacturing packages to guarantee accuracy and constructability.
· Production Support: Manage weekly production calls with the manufacturing facility and customer teams to support fabrication and project schedules.
· Administrative Duties: Assist the Senior Design Manager and log weekly project hours into ADP.
Qualifications
· Experience: 5+ years of framing or wood-framed building experience, plus 5+ years in management role.
· Software Skills: Proficiency with MiTek, CAD, design software, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
· Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of architectural and structural plans, plumbing/HVAC wall requirements, and wall panel systems.
· Structural Expertise: Strong knowledge of wood framing, shear walls, floor trusses, hold-downs, structural connectors, and components typical in multi-family and commercial construction.
· Communication: Ability to train the design team effectively and maintain excellent customer relations.
