Part-Time Household Assistant
Location: Porters Lake, NS
We are a busy, friendly family looking for a reliable and proactive Household Assistant to help keep our home running smoothly during the school week.
This is much more than a cleaning position. We're looking for someone who enjoys creating an organized, welcoming home and takes pride in noticing what needs to be done without being asked. The ideal candidate will create a safe, calm, and welcoming environment, ensuring the children's well-being while encouraging independence and following the family's routines.
Schedule
- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
- 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Approximately 9 hours per week
Responsibilities
- General housekeeping and tidying
- Kitchen clean-up and daily reset
- Laundry (wash, fold, and put away)
- Vacuuming and mopping
- Bathroom cleaning
- Changing bed linens
- Meal preparation and getting supper started
- Pantry and household organization
- Preparing grocery lists and restocking household supplies
- Occasional light errands (if mutually agreed upon)
Light Supervision of the children after School
Our children arrive home around 2:30–2:45 p.m. Duties include:
- Greeting the children after school
- Helping them unpack backpacks and lunch bags
- Preparing a healthy after-school snack
- Providing light supervision while they settle in

- Trustworthy and respectful of our family's privacy
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping, household management, nanny, or related experience is an asset
- Reliable transportation
- References required
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check will be required before employment
Compensation
- To be discussed based on experience and qualifications.
