NexGold has an exciting opportunity for one (1) full-time permanent Manager, Supply Chain. Initially, this role will have regular travel to our Corporate Office in Toronto and periodic trips to the assigned Project. This role will transition to an on-site rotational work schedule during the assigned Project’s construction phase. Initially, this role will be assigned to the Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia. Following the Project’s construction phase at Goldboro, this role may have the opportunity to transition to operations at Goldboro or may be assigned to the Project team at the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, Ontario, or other project sites in the future.
Reporting to the Project Director, this position will be responsible for managing strategic contracts that include heavy industrial construction, open pit mining, tailings dams, common site services, site accommodations, processing plants and supporting site infrastructure and roads. This Project also supports local, community and Indigenous initiatives and business development opportunities which this position will play a key role in its coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
CONTRACT PROCUREMENT, CREATION, AND OVERSIGHT
- Perform and drive the activities and deliverables required to execute the procurement and contract management process, including assisting in scope development, performing supply market research and positioning, soliciting requests for proposals/quotations, leading commercial evaluations, negotiations, and the award of contracts and agreements.
- Planning, preparation, and management of contracting documents and processes.
- Coordination of the technical evaluation process with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure Owner’s contracts effectively define and manage the legal, commercial, and technical obligations and objectives of all parties involved, so as to protect and advance the Owner’s interests.
- Contract management (post-award), including evaluating pre-mobilization deliverables, balancing invoices, negotiating and resolving disputes, managing changes, implementing change management procedures, and closing contracts.
- Overseeing Contractor performance in respect of their contracts with the Owner and leading Contractor steering activities.
- Ensuring contracts are closed out appropriately and in accordance with applicable legislation.
PLANNING AND REPORTING
- Balance area requests with the joint identification of local strategic initiatives for long range value creation and overall cost reductions.
- Liaising with legal, risk, finance, accounting, internal discipline leads, and other stakeholders to ensure that contract terms address all related requirements and policies.
- Implementing effective change management to ensure contract modifications are accurately documented and approved.
- Proactively resolving issues that arise between contractors and project teams in a professional manner.
- Maintain and align project workload, outputs and processes to ensure that Supply Chain efforts contribute to and align with wider project objectives and practices.
- Preparing contract management reports as the need arises and present to senior leadership on contracts-related matters.
- Performing job-related administrative duties as the need arises.
- Participating in Contractor, Community & Internal Project Team meetings and virtual conferences.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field from a recognized institution is required.
- 15+ years of related oil and gas or mining industry experience in contracts and/or procurement-related roles
- 10+ years project specific field experience in a full-time capacity as part of an Owner’s team or EPC, EPCM company.
- Supply chain designation (Supply Chain Canada Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) / Institute for Supply Management Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or equivalent
- Advanced understanding of the unique requirements for performance of the Contracts and Management role in an Owner’s team, in addition to proven dedication within an EPCM, EPC or Tier 1 Contractor organization.
- Advanced understanding and experience with various contract types, costing models, strategies.
- Strong understanding of various legal and commercial terms and ability to interpret, defend, apply, and rely on those terms.
- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Able to raise awareness of contract activities which have an impact to a project.
- Excellent critical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing and leading diverse Contracting Strategies
- Greenfield Construction as well as Major Projects Execution.
- Category management, cost control, scheduling, contract formation and contract administration, and internal customer service
- Claims and Change Management
- Valid driver's license (equivalent to “Class 5” in Nova Scotia).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Role Details:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. During construction phase, schedule will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD).
- Work Arrangements: Hybrid with periodic travel to the assigned Project site and regular travel to the Corporate Office in Toronto, if the incumbent does not live in Toronto. During the construction phase, work arrangements will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD).

- Compensation: Competitive compensation package including base salary range of $195,000-$212,000 annually, dependent on incumbent's qualifications and experience. Eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentive program.
