We are currently seeking a seasoned Telecommunications Foreman to lead field crews and ensure high-quality execution of our telecom projects.
Position Overview
The Telecommunications Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of field crews involved in the installation and maintenance of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and telecommunications infrastructure. This includes overseeing underground and aerial fiber installations, ensuring safety compliance, monitoring productivity, and maintaining strong communication with project managers, clients, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise, coordinate, and support field crews on installation, splicing, testing, and repair of telecom infrastructure (fiber, coax, copper).
· Supervise, coordinate, and support field crews performing FTTH fiber optic installations, splicing, testing, and repairs.
· Ensure adherence to safety procedures and company policies.
· Read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, and specifications.
· Maintain daily production logs, site reports, and quality control documentation.
· Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, utility locators, and project management.
· Troubleshoot technical and field-related issues and provide effective solutions.
· Train and mentor crew members while promoting a culture of safety and performance.
· Ensure all work meets project schedules, quality standards, and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of telecommunications construction experience, including hands-on FTTH (Fiber to the Home) construction experience.
- Must have previous FTTH experience and be familiar with all phases of FTTH deployment, including underground and aerial fiber installation.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or Foreman role.
- Must have experience working around and with directional drills, including setup, operation, and industry best practices.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic networks, aerial and underground construction methods, and telecom infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps, construction drawings, and schematics.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel to project sites across Ontario.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety regulations (OHSA) and industry best practices.
Assets (Not Mandatory)
- Experience working on utility or municipal projects
· Experience working on Bell FTTH or other large-scale FTTH deployment projects
