Overview
LABR Professional Nursing Services connect licensed and certified on-call/ travel nurses and PSW to clients/patients in different environments throughout the GTA and surrounding areas
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care across various settings as provided through our dispatch team which you will communicate with for scheduling to locations such as nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and private home care environments, etc. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, including seniors, children, and individuals requiring hospice or dementia care. The RPN will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive nursing services while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams such as doctors, social workers, therapists, and personal support workers(PSW) to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Duties
- Administer medications and treatments accurately following physician orders and established protocols
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess health status regularly
- Assist with activities of daily living and provide personal care tailored to individual needs
- Document patient information accurately using electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner
- Perform phlebotomy procedures and collect laboratory specimens as needed
- Implement care plans for patients with dementia, chronic illnesses, or in hospice settings
- Educate patients and families about health conditions, medication management, and post-discharge care
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control protocols in all patient interactions
- Participate in case management activities to optimize patient recovery and well-being
Experience
- Prior experience working in nursing homes, hospitals, or assisted living facilities is highly preferred
- Experience in acute care, dementia care, pediatrics, home care, hospice care, or senior care is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems including Epic and Cerner is desirable
- Background in medical office settings or working with children adds value to the role
- Strong understanding of pain management strategies and case management practices is beneficial
- Demonstrated ability to deliver compassionate patient-centered care across diverse populations
This position requires a valid RPN license and compliance with all licensing requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services.
Pay: $42.00-$78.00 per hour
