Donald's Fine Foods is a family owned, global provider of high quality specialty meat products, operating for over 25 years with six plants across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. We're hiring an Industrial Mechanic for our North 49 Foods plant in Moose Jaw, SK.
About the Role
The Industrial Mechanic installs, maintains, and repairs plant machinery and equipment as part of the Maintenance Team, keeping the facility running safely and in full regulatory compliance. This role places the highest priority on safety in all work performed.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, repair, and replace faulty packaging and meat processing equipment, including motors and drives
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical instructions, and manuals to guide repairs and maintenance
- Test new and existing machinery to maximize output
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime
- Assist with equipment setup and movement
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facility
- Operate hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Manager, suppliers, and contractors on repair practices and scheduling
- Follow GMP, food safety, and OHS regulations within a manufacturing food facility
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience
- Specialized background in welding, plumbing, millwright, or electrical trades
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to independently diagnose and repair industrial equipment
- Experience rebuilding motors, gearboxes, drives, pumps, bearings, and valves
- Comfortable reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Equipment operator experience or certification (forklift, reach truck, scissor lift, skid steer)
- WHMIS, Fall Arrest, or Confined Space certification an asset
- Ability to lift 40 lbs minimum, with good overall physical health for extended standing, walking, and lifting
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment requiring PPE including steel toed boots, safety glasses, hi vis vest, and hearing protection
