We are seeking an experienced National Payroll Lead to take ownership of payroll operations across a growing multi-entity Canadian organization.
Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple provinces, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial legislation while delivering exceptional service to employees and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end payroll function across multiple Canadian entities.
- Process payroll for approximately 170 employees across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation.
- Administer payroll for both unionized and non-unionized employees in accordance with collective agreements, company policies, and legislative requirements.
- Maintain employee payroll records, earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, and payroll changes.
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and payroll-related journal entries.
- Coordinate statutory remittances, including CRA source deductions, Employer Health Tax (EHT), Workers' Compensation (WCB), and other provincial requirements.
- Prepare year-end payroll reporting, including T4s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other statutory filings.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with Human Resources and Operations on employee onboarding, compensation changes, leaves of absence, terminations, and union-related payroll matters.
- Support payroll audits and maintain strong internal controls.
- Identify and implement payroll process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Support payroll integration activities as the organization continues to grow through acquisitions.

Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute (required).
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience.
- Experience processing payroll across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
- Experience administering payroll for both unionized and non-unionized employees is strongly preferred.
- Experience processing payroll for 150+ employees across multiple entities and provinces is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of:
- CRA payroll legislation
- Provincial Employment Standards
- Collective agreement administration
- Vacation pay calculations
- Taxable benefits
- Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Year-end payroll reporting
- Experience working within a multi-entity organization is an asset.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Human Resources, and Operations.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
