We are expanding our team and looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys leading projects from start to finish. This position is a permanent leadership role for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
As our Lead Carpenter, you will:
- Lead and supervise a crew of carpenters and labourers on renovation projects.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned projects from start to finish.
- Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Perform and oversee renovation work, including framing, drywall, trim, doors, flooring, cabinetry, and finishing.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and client expectations.
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and make practical decisions to keep projects moving.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate material requirements and ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Train and mentor junior team members and promote a positive, productive work environment.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and material needs to management.
- Perform other renovation and construction duties as required.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Minimum 5 years of renovation experience, with strong skills in framing, finish carpentry, and general renovations.
- Proven ability to independently manage residential job sites and lead a crew from start to finish.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple trades to keep projects on schedule.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Professional attitude with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively leading a team.
- Valid Ontario G driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Carpentry apprenticeship, Red Seal certification, or equivalent hands-on experience (preferred).
- Working at Heights, Health & Safety, and WHMIS certifications (preferred).
Compensation & Benefits
- CA$28.00–CA$35.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week)
