We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced caregiver who is a woman to provide a unique combination of PSW-style support and household assistance for an elderly family member in Whitby. We are looking for someone who is interested in building a long-term, trusting relationship with our family while helping our loved one remain safe, comfortable, and independent in her own home.
This position is about more than personal care. We are looking for someone who enjoys creating a warm, well-run home through cooking, light housekeeping, companionship, and helping with daily routines, while also providing compassionate support with activities of daily living.
Duties include:
- Support with activities of daily living (ADLs) in a home setting
- Medication reminders and assistance with routine medication support (within caregiver scope and comfort level)
- Meal planning and preparation
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment
- Companionship and wellness check-ins to support independence and quality of life
- Supporting daily routines consistent with PSW-type care in a private home setting
We are looking to begin with approximately 4 hours per day, 4 days per week, with the expectation that the role will gradually increase to full-time hours. The ideal candidate is someone who will eventually transition into a live-in caregiver arrangement in the near future.
This is a family-centred care setting. Family members live nearby and will be actively involved to ensure everyone feels comfortable while a trusting relationship is established.
Requirements:
- Experience in PSW work, home care support, elder care, or similar caregiving roles
- Comfortable providing support with daily personal care routines and medication reminders
- Fluent in Spanish
- Female caregiver required due to client comfort and care needs
- Able to transition to a live-in arrangement
- Reliable, compassionate, organized, and proactive
- References are required
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or a willingness to obtain one)
